Library Minute – B2 Re-opening and Improvements

We are excited to announce the completion of the first phase of renovations and upgrades to Boatwright Memorial Library.  In October the new and improved B2 Stacks area became ready for use. Major enhancements to safety and quality were performed in this renovation.

The lighting has been upgraded to the latest LED energy saving standards. The HVAC system was also replaced and upgraded. In a boon to safety fire sprinklers were added on this floor. Additionally, study carrels were re-purposed from the law school, an environmental and cost savings! New carpet and paint was also added.

Additionally, all of our circulation book collection and journals are now located on B2. This collection covers both the front part of B2 and the B2 annex. We are working on enhanced labeling to aid in locating items.

As we continue to renovate we turn next to B1. Basement level 1 – B1 will remain closed until next summer (2022). We will be adding study spaces, a Book Arts Studio, and enhancing the areas in and around our Galvin Rare Book Room. There is more information to come soon on this exciting project!
